One year ago today...

Well, we made it. We survived the first year with kids plural. How did we go from this sweet little bundle to this little kid? I really couldn't tell you. It went by in a blur.

Her 1 year well check up was today. 5 pokes. Yes, we're mean. Here's some fun stats about our Miss Delly:
- She is ALL girl. Loves dolls, princesses, singing and dancing. One morning last week she had me feeding her baby with a toy spoon. At 7 am. It was a little too early for my taste, but it made me laugh all the same.
- She's 30 inches long and 17 lbs 13 oz. Exactly the same height as Angie at this age, but a little over a pound lighter.
- She's still nursing! Refuses formula, will take a little cow's milk, and eats table food better than Angie. Our first meat eater!
- She has a cute little beauty queen wave for hello, she shakes her head 'no', and she can do the actions to "Popcorn Popping." Well, the open/shut hand part anyway. She also loves "Ring around the Rosie." Last week I was subbing in nursery and she kept getting frustrated when the other kids wouldn't take her hand to play it during lesson time.
- She is thisclose to walking on her own, and it's about driving me crazy! She's a better crawler than Angie was, so she hasn't been as driven to learn how to do it without me. She prefers walking, though, and she has the impression that my job in life is to let her drag me all over the house so she can keep up with her sister. We're working with her to get her to walk between us, and she's getting better.
- She LOVES her big sister! They get so excited to see each other, but we're definitely working on the sharing/don't bug your sister rule. I don't think we'll master it until they're out of the house. They're getting better, or maybe Delly's just getting older and better at playing.
They aren't kidding when they say that first year will be hard, but I think it was hard for us because life didn't stop. There were definitely times where I looked heavenward and said, "Lord, I just can't do this anymore." Somehow, we ended up here. I know that we have a loving Father in Heaven who sustains us through His Spirit and the sacrifice of His Son. Somehow, there is a peace that comes and there is guidance that comes, and little miracles and precious moments happen often enough that without a doubt, this is the greatest job in the world.
